Years 4, 5 and 6 (Oak)

School Journey 2018

Some of the children braved the caving today -despite the spiders and dust.  All enjoyed themselves and took part.

In the canoeing activity all of the staff remained mostly dry!  Staff were particularly impressed when your children played 'head, shoulders knees and toes' standing up in the canoes and rounded things off with a game of 'on the water netball'.

Mrs Bleach's group had lots of fun on the BMX's navigating a thrilling track through a very bumpy and muddy forest area.  The children rapidly progressed from riding slaloms to racing through the forest.  They learnt how to handle bikes without gears and different techniques for slowing and stopping.  We finished the session with a dare, to skip back to the meeting point holding hands with a partner, this was quite hilarious.

During problem solving the group all worked as a team, first beating the timer to touch number blocks and then on stilts racing - we got into a rhythm 1,2,3 left, 1,2,3 right.

In the low ropes group they worked as a team suggesting and encouraging each other to get across the draw bridge through the tyre and more.

Archery today for Mrs Crouch's group.  Many budding 'Robin Hoods' scoring bulls-eyes.  The children enjoyed trying to beat each others scores!

Mr Jones' group completed the obstacle course where all of the children worked well as a team.  The children from all 3 schools got to know each other and are forming lovely memories.

We look forward to another fun packed day tomorrow.

Wednesday School Journey

Mrs Willis and I really enjoyed our visit this afternoon.  The food looked delicious.  We were really quite jealous!

We heard some wonderful stories and I know that Mrs Turp (who has taken over from Mrs Keene) is really looking forward to all of the activities tonight, tomorrow and Friday!

Wednesday Day 3

After a full English breakfast we set off on our activities and the children even made use of their waterproofs ready for another fun filled day. The children have excelled at the different activities today, these included:

  • Canoeing
  • Archery
  • BMX
  • Mountain biking
  • High Ropes
  • Zip wire
  • Caving
  • Problem Solving

The children continued their activities in the rain, braving the heavy showers and hail to push themselves to finish their different activities. The rain certainly has not dampened their spirits.

After changing into well needed dry clothes, we had a full roast dinner with dessert.  We ended the day competing in a quiz, with rounds including literature, entertainment, sport, history and geography.

We look forward to another fun packed day tomorrow.

Thursday Day 4

Today yet again another action packed day with the weather holding off for most of the day! The children have enjoyed themselves once again. We started the day with a large breakfast and then set off for our first activities, most of our activities today involved the children climbing, abseiling, zip wiring and climbing the vertical obstacle course. The children have thoroughly enjoyed the week and are all looking forward to sleeping in their own beds. We think the pictures show how much the children are enjoying themselves.
