Art & Design – Enrichment Opportunities

We believe that rich cultural and creative experiences are essential to developing well-rounded learners. Our Art & Design curriculum is enhanced by a wide range of enrichment activities that inspire, challenge, and engage pupils beyond the classroom.

  • Local Art Exploration
Pupils identify examples of printing and design in the local community, including shop signs, chalkboards, street art, and advertising.

  • Outdoor Learning and Nature-Inspired Art
Children use natural materials from the local area to create sculptures and sketches, including lily pad-themed artwork inspired by Claude Monet in our Forest School area. The surrounding countryside provides an ideal setting for observational drawing.

  • Art Across the Curriculum
Pupils express their understanding of topics such as World War II by creating silhouettes of soldiers during the Blitz, connecting history and art in meaningful ways.

  • Community Engagement and Collaboration
The school invites members of the local community to view pupil artwork, building strong community links. We also work with William de Ferrers Secondary School to showcase GCSE and A-Level art, offering pupils a glimpse into the next stage of artistic development.

  • Celebrating Diversity in Art
Through the AccessArt programme and bespoke workshops with local artist Matt Mackman, children explore collaborative projects and celebrate the work of artists from a range of backgrounds and disciplines.
