Church of England Primary School

A learning community dedicated to building
respectful and responsible citizens and empowering all learners.

Kind words

Sam, one of the musicians from Sinfonia Viva Orchestra who worked with the pupils said: What a beautiful school, it is so heartening to see a community based on supporting children's wellbeing, learning & development. So family rooted in nurture and loving care. September 2023

I could not be happier at St Mary’s. The children have thrived since you welcomed them back in  September 2022. You have created an absolute gem of a school that nurtures and encourages each  individual child to be the best version of themselves. June 2023

My daughter is very happy at school; she has had lots of opportunities to do activities within the Trust. June 2023

St Mary’s is an amazing school where all staff go above and beyond for the children.  June 2023

Staff are all well trained, engage students well and push them to make progress suitable to the individual child. Communication is excellent from the school and the Dojo app makes this easier. July 2022

Amazing school. The change in my daughter since we moved school is incredible. July 2022

Love this amazing little school - all staff are so passionate and kind. My children absolutely love it and have thrived since being here. July 2022

My Daughter Freya, who is currently in year 5, spent three days on her first residential trip to Danbury Outdoors in July 2022. Freya is in a mixed class consisting of Yrs 4,5 and 6. All of the children attended along with staff. Before the trip a full itinerary was sent out to parents and meetings were held to assure us that our children would have the very best time. We were informed about activity groupings and sleeping groupings and given the opportunity to discuss our concerns if we had any. We were also given details of the site itself, photos of the activities and the layout of the camping pods and shower blocks. I felt confident that every aspect of my child’s well-being while away from home had been considered. The cost of the residential was as expected and manageable. We were given a good length of time to make payments for the trip which was very easy via parent pay.  The exceptional communication before the trip continued throughout the trip with regular updates on ClassDojo. It was so lovely and also reassuring to see photos of how the children were spending their time. Freya took part in a variety of activities whilst there, including zip lining, high ropes, obstacle courses, archery, a climbing wall and general camp fun. She toasted marshmallows around the camp fire, played games and built dens. A fantastic bonding experience with her fellow class mates and teachers. Freya had an amazing time making memories which she will cherish for a very long time. Thank you so very much St Mary’s, particularly Mrs Walker, Mr Austin, Mrs Islam and Miss Wagstaff. July 2022

Our son recently attended the three-day residential trip to Danbury Outdoors.  They took part in a huge range of outdoors activities, all of which he absolutely loved!  It was his first time staying away without any family so there were some nerves, but he was so well looked after by the teachers there, it turned out to be the best experience for him and has given him so much confidence.  The teachers at St Mary's treat the children as if they were their own and all the children feel listened to, supported and have the most fun, all whilst learning.  I will forever be indebted to St Mary's for giving our son such a great first experience of staying away from home. This little school has celebrated all that Jack achieves, the caring and loving person he is and nurtured  him to progress in areas he’s found tricky. He has found his true self again these last three years and has grown into (finally) someone that has the self confidence ready for the next stage in his life.  We will be so sad to see him leave this lovely school family but we will be ever in debt to them. School is amazing all we could ask for! February 2022

Wonderful school with Head teacher and staff that are very dedicated to the children’s learning, growth and happiness while educating them to the best of each child’s needs and abilities. February 2022

I am very grateful to St Marys for providing a nurturing environment for my child, he now feels respected, supported and cared for. None of which he did at his previous school. February 2022

Our child loves school. When students have not been able to attend (lockdown/isolating) the school provide excellent support and work for students to complete at home. Communication via dojo app is great. February 2022

The most fantastic, special little school. February 2022

Excellent supportive school with friendly teacher and staff with whom you can raise any concerns with easily and are quickly dealt with. February 2022

St Mary’s is an excellent nurturing school! Great leadership & teachers, in addition to very happy children.  July 2021

Amazing school both my boys love it here, so pleased to be a part of this lovely school.  July 2021

I have recommended this school to people, it’s such a lovely small school with the children’s well-being in mind.  July 2021

St Mary’s is a small, caring school community, where each child is nurtured and encouraged to achieve

their best. Core values and mental well-being is at the centre of everything they do, and as a result children gain the confidence to develop academically and socially.  June 2021

Staff are proactive, supportive and have ensured learning and progress of students could still take place even in the pandemic. We could not ask for a better school for our daughter to attend.  July 2021

We love St Mary’s CofE, more importantly our children do, the staff are kind and nurturing, nothing is

too much to ask. As parents we’re kept well informed and involved. Our children are happy and learning,

not only academically but wholeheartedly from the approach the school has adopted. We couldn’t have

chosen better. We chose St Mary’s as it is a small, intimate school but it has so much to offer our  children’s well-being and learning journey.  May 2021

We had a lovely mid year welcome to St Mary's. I have been impressed with the hands on learning that  is being offered and as a parent I am particularly excited by the forest school too. All staff have been  supportive and kind, which has helped us settle quickly into St Mary's. Thank you.  April 2021

We have found as a family that St Mary's school has been outstanding in providing support, and resources for home-schooling since lockdown in January.   The Class Dojo app provides a really easy way to share the children's work with the class teacher and LSA's and also ask questions if needed.  We  receive detailed feedback on the work we send via the app in less than an hour which is so good for the  children's morale in this strange time.  The work plans are well thought out and reflect the range of  abilities in the class and all teaching staff go out of their way to explain things and guide and assist.  We are really grateful to St Mary's for all their hard work in ensuring that their school community  ethos and nurturing environment has been extended into our homes, which will aid a smooth transition  back into school when it is safe to do so.  January 2021
