Key Stage 1 (Ages 5–7)
By the end of KS1, pupils should be able to:
Know about and understand a range of religions and worldviews
Recall and name different beliefs and practices, including festivals, worship, rituals and ways of life.
Retell and suggest meanings to some religious and moral stories, exploring and discussing them.
Recognise some different symbols and actions linked to religious beliefs, including prayer and worship.
Express ideas and insights
Ask and respond to questions about what individuals and communities do, and why.
Observe and recount different ways of expressing identity and belonging.
Notice and respond sensitively to similarities and differences in beliefs and experiences.
Gain and deploy the skills needed to engage seriously with religions and worldviews
Explore questions about belonging, meaning, and truth.
Recognise that some questions cause people to wonder and are difficult to answer.
Respond to ideas about right and wrong and consider how actions affect others.
