Key Stage 2 (Ages 7–11)

By the end of KS2, pupils should be able to:

Know about and understand a range of religions and worldviews

  • Describe and make connections between different features of religions and worldviews.

  • Use subject-specific vocabulary to describe and show understanding of beliefs and practices.

  • Describe how beliefs shape the lives of individuals and communities.

Express ideas and insights

  • Observe and understand varied examples of religion and belief and express insights using reasoned arguments.

  • Understand the challenges of commitment to a community of faith or belief.

  • Discuss and apply ideas about moral and ethical questions.

Gain and deploy the skills needed to engage seriously with religions and worldviews

  • Consider a range of beliefs, symbols and actions.

  • Understand the impact of beliefs on individuals, communities and societies.

  • Reflect on and articulate their own beliefs, values and experiences in light of what they learn.
